Ponting WTC Final Combined XI team – Picks only 4 Indian Players

India will meet Australia in the World Test Championship final that will take place between June 7- June 11 at the Oval. For the second consecutive time Indian team made it to the finals after defeating Australia by 2-1 in Test series.

Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, Indian team was defeated by New Zealand in WTC 2021 final. Before the big clash former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has made a combined XI team that includes both Indian and Australian players.

According to Ponting, this combined XI team will be led by Rohit Sharma. Usman Khawaja and Rohit Sharma will open the batting. He omitted Shubhman Gill who is right now in his top form and he also scored a century in Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

In the ICC Review Podcast, Ponting said, “I’ll start with Usman Khawaja. His last couple of years, whether it has been in Australia or away, have been outstanding at the top of the order”.

For no. 3 has picked Marnus Labuschagne. Followed by two players who are considered as two best test batters in the modern day test cricket i.e. Virat Kohli and Steve Smith.

Ravindra Jadeja was the third Indian picked for the team. There was only one Indian player addition in the bowling attack – Mohammed Shami.
