RCB vs GT – Match 70 Summary
This was the crucial match for RCB as they had to win this game to enter the playoffs. But their match was with GT which is the best side in the competition and they showed that in this match as well.
RCB came in to bat first with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Both gave a great start to the team and added 60 runs in first six overs. RCB lost du Plessis, he scored 28 runs in 19 balls. Then came in Glenn Maxwell, whose innings were rather short lived and was clean bowled by Rashid. He scored 11 runs in 5 balls and RCB was at 80/2.
In no time, RCB lost third wicket as well in the form of Mahipal Lomror. In 12th over, Virat Kohli scored another half century and continued to hit great shots all around the park. From another side, RCB lost Michael Bracewell after scoring 26 runs in 16 balls and Dinesh Karthik got out without scoring any run.
In the final over, Kohli scored his 7th century in 60 balls and RCB ended up with 197/5 on the board.
In response, from GT side Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill started the innings. They lost Saha rather quickly, when team score was 25 runs. Post that Shankar and Gill added good amount of runs on board. In 12th over, Gill scored his half century in just 29 balls. In 15th over, Vijay Shankar also completed his half century with a six, it was his 3rd in this season and 6th in IPL career. But he got out on the next ball.
Shubhman Gill continued the great game but from other side GT quickly lost Dasun Shanka and David Miller. On the first ball of last over, Shubhman Gill completed his century and GT won the game by six wickets. Shubhman Gill was awarded with Player of the Match. With this loss, RCB is now knocked out of the playoffs.
All four qualifiers are final now : Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians
