As the opposition gears up to take on the NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation poll places Rahul Gandhi as the front-runner for the INDIA alliance. 15% of voters selected Mamata Banerjee or Arvind Kejriwal, while Gandhi received 24% of the vote. Support for Kejriwal fell to 15%.

Since the “Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Gandhi’s reputation has improved, with 34% of respondents saying his leadership of the opposition was “outstanding” and 27% saying it was “poor.” His disqualification from the Lok Sabha received equal support from the people; 31% thought it was “politically driven,” and 21% thought it was “harsh.”

Rahul Gandhi received 24% votes

Rahul Gandhi received 24% of the respondents’ votes, while 15% chose either Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress, or Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party. The remaining participants debated over who would make the best INDIA bloc leader.

Kejriwal’s support dropped to 15%

Rahul Gandhi’s popularity has risen since January of this year, when only 13% of voters chose him. On the other hand, Kejriwal’s support dropped from 27% to 15%.

“Bharat Jodo Yatra” was a successful initiative

According to 44% of respondents, Rahul Gandhi’s public image has risen since the nationwide foot march, so it looks like the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” was successful. After the yatra, 13% claimed his reputation was worse, while 33% said it remained the same. The others weren’t sure.

The performance of Rahul Gandhi as the opposition leader received a score of “outstanding” by 34% of respondents and “poor” by 27%. It was rated as “good” by 18% of respondents and “average” by 15%. The remainder weren’t sure.

Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification

Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha received equal support from “average” and “politically driven” voters (31% each). According to 21% of the respondents, it was “harsh.” Gandhi’s disqualification was a point of contention for the remaining respondents.

After discovering guilty in the case involving the surname “Modi,” Rahul Gandhi lost his eligibility to serve as a Lok Sabha MP. The Supreme Court halted his conviction earlier this month, leading to the overturning of the disqualification.

In the general elections in India scheduled for 2024, the alliance’s primary goal is to unseat the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government.
