Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has requested the Delhi High Court to halt the publication and dissemination of defamatory information about her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai, and several media outlets. Dubey and Dehadrai claimed that Moitra accepted payments and gifts in exchange for asking questions in favor of business tycoon Darshan Hiranandani in parliament. Moitra rejected all claims and argued that these accusations were false and defamatory.

Moitra denied all claims and claimed that her dignity, reputation, respect, and goodwill had suffered significantly due to their actions. Justice Sachin Datta will hear Moitra’s lawsuit on Friday. The key points of the five claims made by Moitra in her defamation case include false accusations, personal animosity, political vengeance, Dubey’s letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker for political leverage, Dehadrai’s alteration of her private photos, and the overflowing of untrue and defamatory claims in social media.

BJP MP’s letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

On Sunday, the BJP MP wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, claiming Moitra accepted to ask questions in parliament in favor of business tycoon Darshan Hiranandani in return for payment and gifts.

Moitra allegedly took bribes to ask questions in parliament, according to allegations made by Dubey and Dehadrai.

Mahua Moitra rejected all claims

In addition to asking for an injunction, Moitra asserted that all of these accusations were false and defamatory. The West Bengali MP claimed that her dignity, reputation, respect, and goodwill have all suffered significantly because of the actions of Dubey, Dehadrai, and others.

The five claims made by Moitra

The five claims made by Moitra in her defamation case before the High Court are as follows:
# The accusations are false and the product of her opponent’s creative imagination.

# Because Dubey and Moitra frequently fought, the accusations combined personal animosity with political vengeance.

# To gain political leverage, Dubey sent the letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha without doing his due diligence to verify the accuracy of the claims.

# Dehadrai altered her private photos and removed himself before releasing the images. It occurred solely to slander her, damaging her reputation, and defaming her.

# Her reputation gets tarnished by the tweets, videos, and news articles shared by social media sites and news organizations. These articles are overflowing with untrue and defamatory claims.
Justice Sachin Datta is going to hear Moitra’s lawsuit on Friday.
