Rajasthan Chief Ministers List And Tenures : Post Independence Till Present

1. Heera Lal Shastri (1949-1951): Heera Lal Shastri served as the first Chief Minister of Rajasthan after it was formed on March 30, 1949. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and played a significant role in shaping the early administrative structure of the state.

2. Mohan Lal Sukhadia (1954-1967): Mohan Lal Sukhadia, also a Congress leader, held the office for multiple terms, making a considerable impact on Rajasthan’s development. His tenure was marked by initiatives in education, healthcare, and rural development.

3. Barkatullah Khan (1967-1971): Barkatullah Khan was Rajasthan’s third Chief Minister, serving from 1967 to 1971. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and focused on social welfare programs during his tenure.

4. Mohan Lal Sukhadia (1971-1977): Sukhadia returned for a second term as Chief Minister from 1971 to 1977, continuing his developmental work in the state. His leadership during this period was crucial for Rajasthan’s progress.

5. Shiv Charan Mathur (1980-1981, 1985-1988): Shiv Charan Mathur was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for two non-consecutive terms. He served his first term from 1980 to 1981 and his second term from 1985 to 1988, both as a Congress leader. His tenure saw efforts in industrial development and infrastructure.

6. Hari Dev Joshi (1981-1985): Hari Dev Joshi, a Congress leader, served as the Chief Minister from 1981 to 1985. His focus was on agricultural development and rural welfare schemes during his time in office.

7. Hiralal Devpura (1988): Hiralal Devpura briefly held the position of Chief Minister in 1988 for a short period before the next elections. He was a member of the Congress party.

8. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat (1967-1971, 1977-1980, 1985-1988): Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for three non-consecutive terms. His tenure was marked by initiatives in agriculture, irrigation, and infrastructure development.

9. Jagannath Pahadia (1988-1989): Jagannath Pahadia, a Congress leader, briefly held the office of Chief Minister in 1988-1989 before the next elections. His term was short-lived but focused on rural development.

10. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat (1990-1992): Shekhawat returned to power in 1990 and served as the Chief Minister until 1992. His second term emphasized further on developmental projects and welfare schemes for the people of Rajasthan.

11. Ashok Gehlot (1998-2003, 2008-2013, 2018-present): Ashok Gehlot, a senior Congress leader, has served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for three non-consecutive terms. His tenure has been marked by various developmental initiatives, including education, healthcare, and social welfare programs.

12. Vasundhara Raje (2003-2008, 2013-2018): Vasundhara Raje, a prominent leader of the BJP, served as the Chief Minister for two non-consecutive terms. Her leadership was characterized by economic reforms, infrastructural development, and efforts to boost tourism in the state.
