Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the violence in Manipur, claiming that the Modi government had “divided” the northeastern state into two separate regions. He claimed Prime Minister had not visited the conflict-torn state. The Manipur crisis has caused disruptions to the monsoon season, making the violence a prominent issue. Gandhi called the Modi administration “traitors” and “killed India” in Manipur, comparing him to Ravana and calling him “arrogant” for ignoring the populace’s opinions. He claimed Indian Army could bring peace to Manipur in a day, but authorities aren’t using their services.

The Modi government had “divided” Manipur into two parts

In his first speech in Parliament following his reinstatement as an MP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the violence in Manipur and claimed that the Modi government had “divided” the northeastern state into two separate regions.

As per our PM’s vision, Manipur is not a part of India

“I recently returned from Manipur. Our Prime Minister decided not to go because, in his (the PM’s) opinion, Manipur is not a part of India, and he continues to do so,” Rahul Gandhi stated. He spoke while the Prime Minister was absent from the House.

He said that while he saw the conflict-torn state and interacted with women and children in humanitarian camps, the prime minister had not. He spoke in the Lok Sabha while the motion of no-confidence discussion on the Manipur issue.

The Manipur crisis is causing interruptions to the monsoon session

The continuing monsoon period of Parliament is experiencing frequent disruptions to House proceedings, making the Manipur violence a prominent issue. The opposition introduced a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha to get Prime Minister Modi to address the violence in Manipur.

Since racial tensions between the Kuki and Meitei communities erupted in the northeastern state, more than 160 individuals died.

Gandhi called Modi Government “traitors” and accuses them to have “killed India”

Rahul Gandhi called the Modi administration “traitors,” claimed they weren’t “nationalists,” and claimed their politics “murdered India” in Manipur.

“In Manipur, they murdered Indians. They murdered India as well, not just Manipur. Though their politics did not kill Manipur, they did kill India in that state. In Manipur, they have murdered India,” he claimed.

Gandhi compared PM Modi to Ravana

He compared Prime Minister Modi to “Raavan” and called him “arrogant” for ignoring the populace’s opinions. Rahul Gandhi quoted the epic Ramayana when he said, “Raavan’s arrogance, not Lord Hanuman, set Lanka on fire. Ram did not kill Ravan, but his boastfulness did.”

The Indian Army, according to Rahul Gandhi, can bring peace to Manipur in a day, but the authorities aren’t using their services, he claimed.

Several BJP members raised slogans during Rahul Gandhi’s speech, cutting him off. Kiren Rijiju and Smriti Irani, two Union Ministers, retaliated against the Congress leader and argued for an explanation for his comments regarding Manipur.
