Hazlewood has been struggling with injury for a long time now. It led to late joining of player to Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the recently concluded IPL 2023.

In the light of this unfortunate injury, in-form all-rounder Michael Neser will replace Josh Hazlewood in the 15-man squad. Neser had an impressive run in the County Championship for Glamorgan, where he took 19 wickets in five matches and also scored a century against Sussex. Neser has also played for Australia team in two test matches, during which he took seven wickets.

However, Australia has another option in the form of right-arm fast medium bowler Scott Boland, who is more likely to make the playing XI in absence of Hazlwood.

Hazlewood is one of the key players in Australia’s pace attack. But the 32 years old player has played only four test matches of the last 19 test matches for the team.

Australia team hopes that Hazlewood recover soon and join the team for much awaited Ashes series in England. The five test match Ashes series is going to start from June 16. From Australia’s standpoint, it is important that their seasoned fast bowler gets ready for the important series.
