Why is PM Narendra Modi Silent?

PM Narendra Modi has been accused of insulting former PM Manmohan Singh during the 2014 election campaign, claiming he was “shaky” and “voiceless.” He is now experiencing the full force of every insult he hurled at Manmohan Singh. He has said nothing about the shocking disclosures made in the Hindenburg report regarding his friend Gautam Adani’s asserted stock market tampering accounting discrepancies and undeclared transactions.

Modi has also been silent on several significant issues, such as the protests against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, the violence in Manipur, and the economic situation. He has consistently refrained from discussing the influx of Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and has a high value on silence, which has become his defining characteristic.

Why does the most accomplished PM India ever elected remain silent about Manipur, China, Adani, and Brijbhushan?

Narendra Modi’s destiny for the “Maun”mohan Singh jab appears to have ultimately caught up with him. Manmohan Singh once questioned Modi about his fear of holding press conferences to avoid media attention in one of his few responses from back in 2018.

PM Narendra Modi slammed former PM Manmohan Singh as “voiceless” in the 2014 election campaign

Narendra Modi took immense joy in slamming Manmohan Singh as “shaky” and “voiceless” during the 2014 election campaign. He was frequently called “Maun”mohan Singh at rallies, playing on a Hindi term for quietness. Modi questioned “Maunmohan” Singh and Sonia Gandhi at a rally in Shimla about why they remained silent during the UPA on issues like inflation and price increases.

Is it Modi’s Karma or Keshubhai Patel’s curse?

Modi is now experiencing the full force of every insult he hurled at Manmohan Singh. While some claim it is Modi’s karma, others claim it is Keshubhai Patel’s curse. Keshubhai Patel, who was old and ill, frequently called his old chela a “rhino” and cursed at him. He called Modi a “demon” who supported industrialists over the underprivileged.

The Revelation of Hindenburg Report

A decade later, Modi’s engagement with the industrialist mentioned by Keshubhai appears to have made him speechless. He has said nothing about the shocking disclosures made in the Hindenburg report regarding his friend Gautam Adani’s asserted stock market tampering accounting discrepancies and undeclared transactions. The Adani Group’s net worth decreased by half during the stock market turmoil.

PM Modi’s “Maun” on the Hindenburg Report

The opposition pushed for a joint parliament committee (JPC) investigation into the scam and demanded that the prime minister appear before the house to discuss his relationship with the Adanis. The opposition’s demands rocked the legislature. While PM Narendra Modi remained unwavering, his colleagues steadfastly resisted any requests for public scrutiny made inside and outside Parliament.

No Indian prime minister ever got charged with a direct connection to corruption

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, even went so far as to claim that Modi ‘actually’ owned the money in question. In the past, Modi accused the UPA administration of many frauds. On the other hand, no one had ever charged Manmohan Singh with any personal involvement. No Indian prime minister ever got charged with such direct personal connection in any of these crimes.

Wrestler’s Protest Against WFI President

At the start of 2023, Modi was utterly at a loss for words regarding half a dozen significant issues. Blame the stars or karma. India’s top wrestlers have been protesting the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP, on the streets for several months. Women wrestlers, including minors, accused Singh, who had been controlling the entire federation for years, of repeatedly engaging in sexual misconduct.

Wrestlers protest at Jantar Mantar for several months

At the same time that the protesters’ dharna and agitation at Jantar Mantar went on, Modi and his ministers seemed diligently at work destroying their spirits. The wrestlers traveled to Haridwar to cast their medals into the Ganga at one point because they were so discouraged by Modi’s silence and refusal to speak up.

PM Modi again remains silent on the wrestler’s protest

None of this affected Modi, a staunch despot who acted according to his cold calculations. Votes from the Jat community, which can affect 40 Lok Sabha seats spread across four states, are significant to him. However, it might also prove politically disastrous in Uttar Pradesh to ignore the Brijbhushan factor. This predicament forced India’s “strongest prime minister” to engage in an ongoing debate about the problem. But in the background, he made an effort to calm the agitation.

Manipur Violence

The cause of Modi’s steadfast silence regarding the violence in Manipur, which has been going on for more than two months, falls into a third category. At least 142 people have died because of the ethnic clashes that started on May 3, and 37,000 people drove into relief camps. Any solution the government reveals could backfire on it because it gets stuck in a split grasp of its making.

Modi assigned Amit Shah to Manipur, but he came up empty. It explains his ten-day standoff with an opposition delegation over a meeting to discuss the state of Manipur. They eventually left a memo at the PMO. Similar events also occurred for other Manipuri delegations.

In July 2001, A.B. Vajpayee managed a similar situation related to Manipur

Think about how A.B. Vajpayee handled a comparable circumstance in July 2001. He hosted two all-party meetings while leading an all-party delegation to Manipur. In a democracy, this should be standard procedure. Another custom from the pre-Modi era was an inquiry at the National Integration Council.

PM Modi on Chinese troops invade to Indian Territory in 2020

Since his 2020 gaffe, the PM has consistently refrained from discussing the influx of Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).To everyone’s surprise, Modi’s claim that “neither has anyone invaded into Indian territory nor has anyone seized any military posts” was in opposition to his government’s claims.

The economic situation

After his error on inflation in February of last year, a similar lack of comment appears about price increases and the state of the economy.

Press conferences

Manmohan Singh once questioned Modi about his fear of holding press conferences to avoid media attention in one of his few responses from back in 2018.

Not by accident, PM Narendra Modi places a high value on silence, which has become his defining characteristic.
