West Indies Tour, Big Names Dropped From The Indian Squad


India has revealed their Squads for the three-match ODI tournament and two-match Test series against the West Indies in July and August. The World Test Championship 2023-2025 cycle for West Indies and India will start with this Test series. India must win the ODI series to boast their confidence for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Selectors select Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad to the Test Squad. The Indian Test squad also includes Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar. Selectors called Sanju Samson a wicketkeeper-batsman in the ODI squad. In both formats, Rohit Sharma was the team’s captain.

Big players dropped for the West Indies tour from the Indian squad

India has announced their lineups for the three-match ODI tournament and two-match Test series they will play against the West Indies in July and August.

This Test series will begin the World Test Championship 2023–25 cycle for India and West Indies. India will need to win the ODI series to step up their game for the Cricket World Cup later in the year.

Selectors select Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad to the Test Squad

India has made some significant decisions by bringing in some new faces for the Test setup after the heartbreak of losing the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval. The team has added Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, two uncapped batters, in place of veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara.

When opening the batting for the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, respectively, Jaiswal and Gaikwad had outstanding IPL seasons.

Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini are also in the Indian Test squad

Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav aren’t on the team, but pacers Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini are. Along with Rohit Sharma remaining as captain, Ajinkya Rahane has been named the team’s vice-captain. Jasprit Bumrah is still missing because he has not fully recovered from his back injury.

Indian ODI Team

Indian ODI squad includes many regulars, and Gaikwad is also in the white ball setup. Selectors called Sanju Samsom in the ODI, as KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are injured.

Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mohammed Siraj are all included in the limited-overs squad in the pace department. Umran Malik completes the department of pace bowling. In addition, India has four options for spin bowling in the ODI squad: Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav.

The ODI team will be captained by Rohit Sharma, with Hardik Pandya serving as his deputy.

Schedule of Test Series

Dominica will host the first Test on July 12, and Trinidad will host the final Test on July 24. Following suit, the three-match ODI series will happen.

India has not yet selected its team for the T20I series.
