Besides the threat call to Sharad Pawar, Sunil Raut, the brother of Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, revealed that they had received multiple threat calls on Thursday between 4 pm and 4:15 pm.

Threat Calls To Raut And Sharad Pawar : CM Shinde Orders Probe

Following the concerns raised by the veteran politician and his family regarding his safety, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered the police to investigate the threats against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on social media. Pawar emphasized that he was not worried about the threats against himself, but he held the state government responsible for ensuring his safety. He stated that those in charge of maintaining law and order in the state should not evade their responsibilities. The concerns within the family and the NCP grew after a social media threat implying that Pawar would suffer the same fate as Dabholkar. Narendra Dabholkar, a rationalist, was assassinated on August 20, 2013, on the Omkareshwar bridge in Pune.

Threat Call To Sharad Pawar

Supriya Sule, Pawar’s daughter and an NCP MP, lodged a complaint with Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar regarding the threat and demanded a thorough investigation. She expressed hope that the home department would take immediate action and held the state and central home ministers accountable if anything happened to her father.

Sule also criticized the spread of a hateful atmosphere, questioning the type of culture being promoted in Maharashtra. She highlighted that while differences can exist, the current level of hatred being propagated was concerning.

Sunil Raut, the brother of Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, disclosed that they also received three to four threatening calls between 4 pm and 4:15 pm on Thursday. He stated that the caller threatened to kill him and MP Sanjay Raut, warning that they would be shot and sent to the graveyard within a month if they did not cease their morning press conferences. Sunil Raut reported the threat calls to Mumbai Police Commissioner and State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

CM Shinde’s Tweet

On Twitter, Chief Minister Shinde acknowledged the threat call to Sharad Pawar and assured that appropriate action would be taken. He personally spoke with senior police officers and instructed them to investigate the matter. Shinde emphasized that Pawar was a respected senior leader and mentioned the possibility of enhancing his security if deemed necessary.

Shinde also accused certain individuals of deliberately trying to disturb the atmosphere in Maharashtra. He claimed that since the Supreme Court ruling on the split in Shiv Sena, these individuals had been attempting to create unrest in the state. Shinde vowed to prevent any communal trouble by denouncing the glorification of Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan and ensured the maintenance of law and order in the state.

Sanjay Raut criticized Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who heads the home department, for not taking the threats seriously. Raut claimed that in the past, he had complained to Fadnavis, but instead of taking action, the alleged criminal involved in the threat was provided police protection. Raut asserted that the threats they received, both against himself and Pawar, were sponsored by the government.
