Telangana Assembly Elections: 3 Congress Lok Sabha members join the battle


Congress has released a preliminary list of 55 contenders for the upcoming Telangana assembly elections, with tickets given to three Lok Sabha members and five current MLAs. The election will occur on November 30, with the vote count expected on December 3. The list includes three Congress MPs: Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Nalgonda, Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy from Kodandal, and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy from Huzurnagar. Five incumbent MLAs received tickets from the party. The candidates chosen from the preliminary list will embark on a bus yatra in their respective regions, with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi participating in the first phase. Congress has placed 15 Reddy candidates, 12 Scheduled Castes, two Scheduled Tribes, 3 Muslims, and a Brahmin among the 55 contenders.

The president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi and chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, will be challenged by senior Congressman Tumkunta Narasa Reddy from Gajwel.

Congress disclosed its initial list of 55 contenders

Congress revealed a preliminary list of 55 contenders for the upcoming assembly elections on Sunday, giving tickets to three members of the Lok Sabha and all five of its current MLAs in Telangana.

Election day, November 30, will see a single phase of voting for the 119-member assembly. December 3 will witness the counting of votes.

List of all three Congress MP

Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Nalgonda, The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy from Kodandal, and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy from Huzurnagar are the candidates for the party, according to a release from the All India Congress Committee.

Five sitting MLAs who received tickets

Duddilla Sridhar Babu from Manthani, Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka from Madhira (SC), PCC working president T Jagga Reddy from Sangareddy, Podem Veeraiah from Bhadrachalam (ST), and Dhanasari Anasuya alias Seethakka from Mulug (ST) are among the five incumbent MLAs who received tickets from the party.

Congress bus yatra

“The candidates chosen from the preliminary list will instantly embark on a bus yatra in the regions they represent. On 18, 19, and 20 of the current month, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, two prominent Congress members, will join the bus yatra’s first phase. Soon, the subsequent list of contenders will get made public,” according to Revanth Reddy.

Congress candidates against Telangana CM

Against chief minister and president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi K Chandrashekar Rao’s party, the senior Congress official Tumkunta Narasa Reddy is running. According to those familiar with the situation, the state unit had Mohammad Ali Shabbir’s name up for consideration for the second seat Rao will be running for, Kamareddy, where the party has not yet announced its candidate.

Out of the 55 contenders, Congress placed 15 Reddy candidates, 12 members of Scheduled Castes, two members of Scheduled Tribes, 3 Muslims, and a Brahmin, in addition to Velamas, Vysyas, and Other Backward Classes
