Gandhi credited her late husband, Rajiv

Gandhi credited her late husband Rajiv Gandhi. She stated that her husband brought the constitutional amendment to determine the participation of women in regional body elections.

“In the Rajya Sabha, it lost by seven votes. Later, the Rajya Sabha passed it under the direction of PM PV Narasimha Rao and the Congress Government. Thanks to local bodies, we now have 15 lakh elected women leaders. Rajiv Gandhi’s vision is still in progress. With the passage of this bill, it gets finished,” she informed the Lok Sabha.

Indian women fought like a river

“The patience of the Indian woman is like the ocean. “She fought like a stream for everybody’s betterment,” Gandhi said, seeking that the bill become law immediately.

The Congress Party backs this bill

“This Bill has the support of the Congress party. While we appreciate that the bill has become law, we also feel worried. I want to pose a query. For the past 13 years, Indian women have been anticipating their political obligations. A few more years of waiting now call for them. How long? Is this behavior suitable around Indian women?” she questioned.

The arrangements for reservation of SC, ST, and OBC women

Gandhi continued, “The INC calls for the proposal to become law immediately, but a Caste survey is also necessary, and arrangements for reservation of SC, ST, and OBC women ought to get made.”

Sonia Gandhi declared that any delay in putting the women’s reservation law into effect would be a grave injustice to Indian women. The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023’, which arrived on Tuesday at the new Parliament construction, continues to get laid out in the Lok Sabha.
