Response from Mahua Moitra to Hiranandani’s affidavit

Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, has questioned the legitimacy of a signed affidavit by businessman Darshan Hiranandani, which supports BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey’s allegations of receiving cash and gifts for asking specific questions in Parliament. Moitra questioned the paper’s lack of official stationary and notarization, claiming that a well-known businessman like Hiranandani is unlikely to sign such a significant document on plain white paper without possible outside pressure.

She also claimed that the letter’s subject was a “joke” and that the PMO threatened Darshan and his father with a metaphorical gun. This week, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Moitra’s ex-partner and attorney, Jai Anant Dehadrai, claimed that Moitra sought favors from Hiranandani to address House of Representatives issues.

Hiranandani’s signed testimony that supported BJP MP’s allegations

Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, reacted in-depth to the signed affidavit by businessman Darshan Hiranandani that supported BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey’s allegations that she received cash and gifts for asking specific questions in Parliament.

The paper’s lack of official stationary and notarization

Due to the paperwork’s lack of official stationary and notarization, Moitra doubted its validity, claiming that a well-known businessman like Darshan Hiranandani is unlikely to sign such a significant document on plain white paper without possible outside pressure.

Moitra: “A gun went on his head to make him do it”

“The affidavit appears on plain white paper and is not notarized or on business letterhead. Why one of India’s most esteemed and well-educated businessmen would sign a note like this on white paper without threatening him with a gun,” The Lok-Sabha member questioned.

Moitra asserted that the letter’s subject was a “joke”

The affidavit, according to Moitra, originated by “some half-wit in the PMO who serves as an imaginative writer in the BJP’s IT cell” because it featured gushing compliments for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wealthy industrialist Gautam Adani while suggesting several opposing parties and investigative journalists in her alleged corruption.” Moitra further asserted that the letter’s subject was a “joke.”

“Cyril Shroff is Gautam Adani’s “samdhi,” and he served on the SEBI committee while engaging in a clear conflict of interest. The government relentlessly pursues both Shashi Tharoor and Rahul Gandhi. The government continues to get exposed by investigative journalist Sucheta Dalal,” she continued.

The PMO endangered Darshan with a metaphorical gun

“The PMO threatened Darshan and his father with a metaphorical gun to their heads and provided them 20 minutes to sign this letter addressed to them. They faced threats with the complete shutdown of all of their businesses,” she wrote, pointing out how dependent his company was on government permits and the massive sums of money he spent in BJP-run Uttar Pradesh.

This week, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Moitra’s ex-partner and attorney, Jai Anant Dehadrai, claimed that Moitra sought favors from Hiranandani to address issues in the House of Representatives. The Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla forwards Dubey’s complaint to the Parliament’s Ethics Committee.
