The wrestlers protest is going on at Jantar Mantar, Delhi against the Wrestling Federation President and BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh of Uttar Pradesh. The protesting athletes have accused the BJP MP of sexual assault and molestation charges. These protests are going since last week as the committee formed earlier to look into the matter hasn’t taken any concrete actions against the accused.

The wrestlers are getting support from various political and non political personalities across the nation. In the same series Congress leader and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited the wrestlers today to show solidarity with them and pledge Congress party’s support to the female athletes sitting there.

Priyanka Gandhi sat with the protestors and listened to their demands as well as the issues as Vinesh Phogat one of the champion wrestler who is accusing the BJP MP of molestation broke into tears while sharing the case details. Priyanka Gandhi was accompanied by Haryana Congress leader and parliamentarian Deepender Hooda who is in support of the state’s wrestlers since day 1.
Priyanka Gandhi On PM’s Silence
After meeting the wrestlers Priyanka Gandhi gave her statement to the media present saying that Congress party is standing with nation’s daughters and she also slammed the Prime Minister for not talking to the girls who have suffered at the hands of BJP MP and keeping mum on this matter.
FIR Registered After Supreme Court’s Intervention
Yesterday evening 2 FIRs have been registered against the accused BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh including 1 in POCSO act for molesting a minor female wrestler. These FIRs have been registered only after the Supreme Court directed Delhi Police to do so and asked them the reason for not registering the FIR for so many months.
BJP’s Silence On The Matter
BJP leaders including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi have not spoken a word on the issue and their silence is being looked at as their support to the accused MP who has a long list of serious criminal cases against him in different cities of Uttar Pradesh including gangster act and assault.
The question is being raised that the PM who clicks pictures with these athletes when they bring glory for the country is not uttering a word when they are being molested and threatened at the hands of his party’s member of parliament.

Many ex and current people from the Sports fraternity have come out in support of the wrestlers. Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Neeraj Chopra, Sania Mirza, Abhinav Bindra and many others have tweeted in support.
