President Murmu Signs 7 New Bills Including Delhi Services Ordinance


President Droupadi Murmu approved seven new laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, Indian Institutes of Management, Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, National Dental Commission Act, Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, and Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, which went into effect in 2023. Government officials also published a formal gazette notice.

The Rajya Sabha approved the Delhi Services Bill, which gets criticized by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for disobeying the people of Delhi. Kejriwal predicted that the BJP would not gain a single seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and expressed appreciation to all political parties supporting the AAP’s opposition to the bill. The INDIA bloc strongly opposed the Delhi Services Bill, which grants the BJP control of the administration in the national capital.

After receiving President Droupadi Murmu’s approval, seven new laws, including the one about the control of services in Delhi, approved by Parliament this week went into effect on Saturday. Government officials also published a formal gazette notice.

The following laws go into effect in 2023: Digital Personal Data Protection Act; Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act; Indian Institutes of Management; Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act; National Dental Commission Act; Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act; and Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act.

Laws approved by President last week

Seven fresh regulations that got approval from President and accepted by the legislature also became effective last week.

These included: The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023; The Cinematograph (Amendment) Act, 2023; The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Act, 2023; The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) Act 2023; The Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023; The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2023; The Multi-State Cooperative Societies Amendment Act 2023.

Arvind Kejriwal on approval of the Delhi Services Bill

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with stealing Delhi’s freedom after the Rajya Sabha approved the Delhi Services Bill. According to him, PM Modi and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena “will run the administration of Delhi,” and there is “no significance” left in the votes cast by Delhi residents.

Kejriwal claims that the PM disregarded the wishes of the people of Delhi. After losing four elections to AAP, he asserted that the BJP attempted to seize control of Delhi by a backdoor. “The prime minister vows to transform Delhi into a full state. “Today, he stabbed the people of Delhi in the back,” said Kejriwal.

Delhi citizens will not give the BJP a single seat in the 2024 LS election

Kejriwal predicted that the BJP’s conceit would soon catch up to them. “In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Delhi voters will not give the BJP a single seat,” according to Kejriwal, who also noted that “they adore the AAP government.” Additionally, He conveyed his appreciation to all political parties that backed AAP’s opposition to the Delhi Services bill.
