India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador R Ravindra, has reaffirmed New Delhi’s efforts to send humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip residents amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. India has already sent 38 tonnes of food and essential medical supplies and plans to continue. During a UNSC discussion on the Israel-Hamas conflict, Ravindra stated that India supports Palestinians through its bilateral development partnership, which includes education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and information technology. He condemned the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, expressing concern over the worsening situation and the deaths of civilians. India has echoed its appeal for a two-state approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has entered its 19th day, with over 6,000 people lost on both sides.

New Delhi’s dedication to sending humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip residents

Israel-Hamas war: In light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) to the UN, Ambassador R Ravindra, reaffirmed New Delhi’s initiatives on Wednesday to send humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip residents. He said India had already sent 38 tonnes of food and essential medical supplies, and New Delhi will continue to do so.

On Sunday, India issued a military heavy-lift aircraft to the Palestinians with 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and about 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies.

UN Indian DPR, R Ravindra’s statement

During a UNSC discussion on the Israel-Hamas war, the ambassador disclosed, “We keep supporting the Palestinian folks through our bilateral development partnership, which involves a broad spectrum of areas including education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and information technology…Despite the difficulties, India will keep supplying the people of Palestine with humanitarian aid.

“A severe and ongoing issue is the rising tide of civilians killed in the ongoing conflict. All parties involved must safeguard civilians, particularly women and children,” he continued.

We condemn the terrorist attack on Israel: R Ravindra

“The terrorist assaults on October 7 in Israel were alarming, and we denounce them unequivocally. Our prime minister was one of the first world leaders to offer mourning for the tragic loss of life and offerings for the innocent victims and their families. When Israel was dealing with these terror attacks, we stood with them in their hour of need. We send heartfelt sympathies to the households of the deceased and pray for rapid healing for the injured,” Ravindra stated, voicing worry over the conflict’s worsening scenario and the deaths of civilians.

Two-state approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict

India echoed its appeal for a two-state approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict and added that “every attempt needs to get done to establish favorable circumstances for the continuation of these talks.”

On Wednesday, the conflict between Israel and the militant organization Hamas entered its 19th day, with more than 6,000 people lost on both sides. On October 7, Hamas militants launched unprecedented attacks, which caused at least 1,400 Israeli deaths.
