Gujarat Titans qualify for IPL 2023 playoffs

Gujarat Titans, the defending IPL champions, defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a score of 34 runs on Monday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to earn a spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs.

GT will take first place and face the first qualifier on May 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. For the IPL 2023 final, they will have two chances to qualify.

With their ninth victory of the season over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans finally locked up a spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs. The team led by Hardik Pandya easily defeated the Aiden Markram-led SRH to secure a top-two finish in the competition.

As a result, SRH’s chances of finishing in the top four have vanished, and they are no longer in the competition.

GT crushed SRH by 34 runs

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Monday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Shubman Gill’s century and Mohamad Shami’s outstanding bowling display gave Gujarat Titans a 34-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. GT crushed SRH by 34 runs as they comfortably batted down their 188-run total against a shaky Hyderabad batting order.

None of their batters made any standout contributions, except for Heinrich Klaasen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma for GT were accurate with the ball and the pair shared four wickets in SRH’s lackluster performance.

This was the first time pacers from both teams completely controlled an IPL game. For the first time in IPL history, pacers have taken 17 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan, and Fazalhaq Faroorqi each took eight wickets for SRH. Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, and Yash Dayal of the GT pacers took nine wickets in the match.

Klaasen and Bhuvneshwar worked together to score 68 runs for the eighth wicket during SRH’s dismal performance with the bat. Klaasen scored 64 runs on 44 balls, while Bhuvneshwar hit 27 off 26 balls. Bhuvneshwar had earlier taken five wickets while bowling.

Shubman Gill scored a brilliant hundred during the game. He scored his first hundred in the IPL and the first by a GT player. GT scored 188 runs while batting. Only Gill and Sai Sudharsan were the two standout players in their batting. Sai scored 47 runs off 36 shots, and Gill smashed 101 off 58. No other GT player reached the single-digit threshold.
