Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl. Punjab Kings smasher Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Trent Boult on the second ball of the first over. Atharva Taide came in to bat. He hit a few big hits but his innings were rather short-lived and got out after scoring 19 runs. Zampa dismissed Shikhar Dhawan in the next over.

Navdeep Saini took his second wicket by dismissing Liam Livingstone. After 10 overs, PBKS score was 78/4. Jitesh Sharma got out after smashing 44 runs in 28 balls, this was the third wicket for Saini. Then Sharukh Khan and Sam Curran played brilliant innings of 41*(23) and 49*(31) respectively.

PBKS gave a target of 188 runs. RR came in to bat and lost Jos Buttler before he was able to open his run account. Padikkal smashed his 9th half-century in the 10th over and got dismissed on the next ball. After 10 overs, the RR score was 86/2.

Sanju Samson scored just 2 runs and got caught out by playing a rather careless shot in the air. In the 15th over, in-form batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a half-century in 35 balls. But he got caught out in the same over by playing a reverse sweep shot. With 19 runs to win in 13 balls, RR lost a crucial wicket of Parag. Power hitter Hetmyer got dismissed after scoring 46 runs.

Finally, the impact player Jurel hit a six to win the match for Rajasthan Royals by 4 wickets. Devdutt Padikkal was awarded the Player of the Match award. With this win, Rajasthan Royals are now in 5th position in the points table meanwhile PBKS is now knocked out of the playoff contention.
