When LSG rallied behind Stoinis and Pooran to win with one wicket left to spare, they did so despite fifty-plus scores from Kohli, du Plessis, and Maxwell.

LSG Defeat RCB Last Ball Thriller Riding on Pooran’s 19-ball 62

Royal Challengers Bangalore believed they could resume orchestrating lopsided victories once they got home. They managed to chase down 171 the last time with just two wickets lost in 16.2 overs. They amassed 212/2 on Monday before nearly ending the innings of the Lucknow Super Giants. Nearly, as Nicholas Pooran scored an incredible 62 runs in just 19 balls later in an 84-run stand with Ayush Badoni that almost gave LSG a strolling triumph.

The calculation reviewed 24 from 18 balls after Pooran fell. Then came Badoni, who was hit-wicket while attempting to slog sweep a six, and LSG still required seven off eight. It could have been done in singles, but things got out of hand as Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat added more drama with their wild swings, and Harshal Patel attempted to run out Ravi Bishnoi at the non-end. striker’s RCB immediately withdrew the appeal, and Avesh Khan eventually fumbled to the other end after Dinesh Karthik was unable to properly collect the ball. LSG triumphed by a single wicket.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis each reached their respective fifty scores in back-to-back games.
Finally, Kyle Mayers, who was in good form, was forced to chop onto his stumps by Mohammed Siraj on the third ball of the first over of the chase. Add to that the satisfaction of seeing Wayne Parnell, who was hired to take Reece Topley’s place, dismiss Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya from LSG’s power batting in the fourth over, and Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium was already chanting “RCB, RCB” by that point. However, their bowling again came up short.

KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis put up strong resistance, giving the target a valiant chase until the halfway point with a 76-run fourth-wicket partnership (during which the Australian all-rounder smashed 65 off 30). Hit too many sixes, however, led to Stoinis’ dismissal. After a shaky 18 off 20, Rahul was picked out by Kohli at deep square while trying to flick Siraj, and he was the second wicket to fall in the following over.

Pooran entered the game, in the 11th over no less, and immediately began revitalizing LSG’s pursuit by slogging Karn Sharma for a six. Sharma takes over again, this time with two sixes. Two sixes and a four resulted in a spanking for Harshal Patel. Pooran scored this season’s fastest fifty, off just 15 balls when he smoked Parnell over long-on for a six, and he might have heard a pin drop at Chinnaswamy.

As long as Ayush Badoni remained composed at the other end, the target had been reduced to 42 runs from 30 balls, so all Pooran had to do was complete the remaining runs.
In retrospect, a score of 212 at Chinnaswamy was likely parred. It’s a score that conceals the fact that they were scoring at a 6.85 average per over for seven middle overs after cruising to 56/0 in the Powerplay.

After Kohli was bowled by Amit Mishra in the 12th over, holing to Marcus Stoinis at deep midwicket, it appeared as though the game was headed for a decline. The following nine balls, which included a maiden from Mark Wood, were hit for 10 runs.

There was no turning back once Maxwell started figuring out his range, though. Du Plessis also contributed to the havoc, hammering Ravi Bishnoi for two straight sixes after reaching 33 off 31 balls. Off the subsequent 15 balls, he scored 46. At a run rate of 15.42 per over, the final seven overs generated 108 runs for one wicket.

LSG may have made a mistake by denying Amit Mishra more overs while Maxwell was batting, allowing him to receive 20 of the pacers’ 29 deliveries. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter.
