IPL 2023: KKR vs GT Match Summary


In the IPL 2023 match 39 played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Gujarat Titans won over Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets. GT successfully chased down the target of 180 runs, reaching 180/3 in 17.5 overs. This was possible due to the contribution of Vijay Shankar’s quick knock of 51 runs off 24 balls, as well as significant innings from Shubman Gill (49) and David Miller (32*). KKR managed to score 179/7 in 20 overs, with Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine taking one wicket each. The main contributor for KKR was an 81-run knock off 39 balls by one of their players, including five fours and seven sixes. Andre Russell also played an impactful innings of 34 runs off 19 balls, with two fours and three sixes. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami took three wickets, while Joshua Little and Noor Ahmed scalped two each for GT.

Since losing to KKR, the reigning champions have won three matches and are now placed second with 10 points. In contrast, the Knight Riders lost four games before overtaking Royal Challengers Bangalore and moving up the rankings. Currently, they are placed fourth from the bottom with six points.

During their previous match, Kolkata achieved a memorable victory over the hosts, largely thanks to Rinku Singh’s explosive cameo in the final over, hitting five sixes. The match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
