The much-anticipated IPL 2023 final match between defending champions Gujarat Titans(GT) and four-time winners Chennai Super Kings(CSK) will be played today. Here are some of the highlights for you.
• Quick Review of Playoffs –
After a lot of shuffle, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians reached the playoffs. Chennai defeated Gujarat to book the spot in finals. Mumbai defeated Lucknow to reach Qualifier 2 but failed to reach finale as they lost to Gujarat.
• History favors Gujarat Titans –
On four occasions CSK and GT have faced each other. IPL history is in favor of GT as they have won on three occasions.
• New record for MS Dhoni
Dhoni will become the only player to play 250 IPL matches. No other player has played these many matches.
• Risk of rain washing off the game
Rain is one big concern for IPL final. It can delay the proceedings during the final.
• Shubhman Gill is in beast mode
Shubhman Gill in in top notch form which will definitely be a concern for Chennai Super Kings. Gill has already scored three centuries and four half centuries.
• Will we see Dhoni again?
It is highly anticipated that this is Dhoni’s last IPL. Although fans want to see him again but Dhoni has not yet given a clear response on if this is his final IPL season or not.
• Heavy lifters for Gujarat Titans
While Shubhman Gill is the Orange Cap holder, Mohmmad Shami is the Purple Cap holder from bowling side. Both are in GT. Rashid Khan, just 1 wicket behind Shami is also in great form.
• Ambati Rayudu announces retirement
Amabati Rayudu will be playing his final match today.

The final match of IPL 2023 is being played today on 29th May 2023 which is the reserved day as the set date yesterday was washed out by rain.
The match has started and Chennai Super Kings has elected to field first after winning the toss.
