India at Asian Games 2023 – Schedule and Events on September 20


India’s Men’s football team suffered a 1-5 loss against host at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, but they defeated Cambodia in the Men’s volleyball competition. On Wednesday, the Indian team will probably do better in several events, including modern pentathlon, volleyball, and rowing. Rowing multiple events begin at 6:30 a.m., while the Modern pentathlon will feature Mayank Chaphekar in the fencing qualifier. The volleyball match between India and South Korea will occur at 4:30 p.m. India will try to maintain its winning streak after defeating lower-ranked Cambodia in the Pool C match. South Korea has the third-most gold medals ever won at the Asian Games, with five gold medals. India has won three volleyball medals, with their best finish as second in 1962.

September 20: A mixed day for the country

Positive news did come from somewhere else, though, as India defeated Cambodia in the Men’s volleyball competition by a score of 3-0. Both meetings took place at the group stage.

Fans will be hoping for a better performance from the Indian contingent on Wednesday, as various events are due throughout the day. Rowing will open the competition, followed by volleyball and the modern pentathlon.

b) Modern Pentathlon
Mayank Chaphekar will then compete in the modern pentathlon event. Modern pentathlon, as the name indicates, is a discipline that combines five distinct events into one. The event first appeared in the Olympics in 1912 and consists of cross-country running, fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, and pistol shooting.

Mayank will compete in the fencing qualifier, which will be held in a round-robin format and begin at noon.

c) Volleyball: India vs South Korea
Finally, at 4:30 p.m., there will be a volleyball match between South Korea and India, two powerhouse nations. Despite the formidable opposition, India will try to maintain its winning streak after defeating lower-ranked Cambodia in the Pool C match 25-14, 25-13, 25-19.

South Korea, currently ranked 27th, has the third-most gold medals ever won at the Asian Games, with five. In men’s volleyball at the Asian Games, Japan earned 27 podium finishes with 16 gold medals, followed by China with 11 golds.

On the other hand, India has won three volleyball medals to date, with their best finish coming in 1962 when they came in second place. India won the other two, both bronze, in 1958 and 1986.
