Bilateral meeting of Modi and Albanese

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese held extensive talks today to strengthen bilateral ties in renewable energy, trade, and defense.

A ceremonial guard of honor was presented to PM Modi at Sydney’s Admiralty House before the talks.

The events took place the day following PM Modi’s speech to the Indian people in Sydney at an assembly that also featured Albanese.

Both leaders condemned the act of Temple vandalism

PM Modi stated that the two leaders discussed the temple vandalism incidents in Australia. Both countries have vowed sternly against such attacks, according to the Prime Minister, who is currently on a two-day visit to Australia.

“In earlier times, PM Anthony Albanese and I have spoken about the problem of incidents in temples in Australia and the behavior of separatist elements. We talked about it today as well,” said PM Modi.

He claimed that the Australian prime minister had promised to take strict measures against those who engage in such vandalism.

Attacks on Temples in Australia

In March, supporters of Khalistan attacked Brisbane’s Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple, a significant Hindu temple. This was the fourth instance of vandalism against a Hindu temple in Australia in the last two months.

In Carrum Downs, Australia, on January 16, anti-Hindu graffiti was written on the Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple.

Anti-Indian and anti-Hindu graffiti was spray-painted on the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir on January 12 in Mill Park, Australia. Australia Today reported that the temple, which is located in the Mill Park neighborhood, was vandalized by anti-Indian elements who wrote anti-Indian slogans on its walls.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s statement

The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that “as part of the bilateral discussion today, we emphasized our shared desires for the swift conclusion of the Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement later this year.”

PM Modi’s three-nation tour

Currently, on his final leg of a three-nation tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Australia for two days. The Prime Minister previously traveled to Hiroshima, Japan, from May 19 to May 21, where he took part in the G7 Advanced Economy Summit hosted by Japan. The Prime Minister traveled to Papua New Guinea following his attendance at the G7 summit. It was the first time an Indian prime minister had visited Papua New Guinea.
