ED raids and arrests Oppn. leaders in numerous cases


The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been raiding, detaining, or summoning opposition party leaders in four states – Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana in recent months. In Rajasthan, the ED is evocating Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav in a forex violation case, and they also searched properties linked to Independent MLA Om Prakash Hudla and Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra in connection with a money laundering case. In Madhya Pradesh, the ED renewed an old bank fraud case against Ratul Puri, the nephew of Congress leader Kamal Nath.

In Telangana, the ED is investigating Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha’s suspected involvement in the Delhi liquor scam case. The ED also took action against Aam Aadmi Party leaders running in the MP elections. In Chhattisgarh, the ED searched ten locations as part of an ongoing investigation into the Mahadev App racket, an online gaming platform that appears guilty of defrauding users. The agency conducted several raids regarding various scams, resulting in numerous detentions in Telangana, Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh.

About various “scams,” the agency performed numerous raids, leading to multiple arrests in Telangana, Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh.

Four of the five election-bound states

In the last few months, leaders of opposition parties in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana—four of the five states where elections got scheduled for next month—have either been raided, detained, or summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

ED raids in Rajasthan

In addition to summoning Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav in a forex violation case, the agency on Thursday searched properties connected to Independent MLA Om Prakash Hudla and Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra in connection with a money laundering case.

The raids in Rajasthan on Thursday occurred about the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) scam and the case of exam paper leaks. The matter concerning the leaked paper addresses the Senior Teacher Grade II Competitive Examination of 2022, scheduled on 21, 22, and 24 of the last month of 2022 by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).

In Madhya Pradesh, the Enforcement Department (ED) renewed an old bank fraud case against Ratul Puri, the nephew of Congress leader Kamal Nath, following a new arrest two months ago.
In Telangana, the ED is investigating Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha’s suspected involvement in the Delhi liquor scam case. In addition, it took action against Aam Aadmi Party leaders who are running in the MP elections.

Among these sites were Vinod Verma, the political adviser to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and his office, home to two officers on special duty.
The agency conducted several raids regarding different “scams,” which resulted in numerous detentions in Telangana, Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh.
