Earthquake Tremors Felt In North India

Multiple countries including Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan were struck by an earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, as per reports. The epicenter is thought to be approximately 90 kilometers away from Kalafgan in Afghanistan.

Reports of a strong earthquake tremor are coming in from Delhi, Jaipur and other parts of North India as well. It is to be noted that recently Turkey and parts of Syria were hit by severe earthquakes and experts warned of a earthquake tremors in norther India and countries neighboring north western frontier.

No reports of serious damages have been reported so far from anywhere in India but the concerned government bodies are on alert and monitoring this recent tremor hit.

The tremors were felt around 10:20 PM IST in areas of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad. People were seen rushing out of their houses as buildings shook.

In the recent past the earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria were reportedly because the region where Turkey and Syria are located is an area of significant seismic activity, as it is situated at the intersection of three tectonic plates – the Arabian Plate, the Anatolian Plate, and the Eurasian Plate.
