S. Jaishankar: “Not good for Canada and its ties to India”

S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, condemned Canada on Thursday after images of a march circulated in the Canadian city of Brampton illustrating the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi arose on Wednesday. Jaishankar condemned Canada’s ostensible toleration of pro-Khalistan elements, saying it is “not beneficial to Canada and its connection with India.”

Jaishankar’s statement

We find it difficult to understand why anyone would do this other than to satisfy the needs of vote-bank politics. The opportunity provided to separatists, extremists, and those who encourage violence has a big fundamental issue,” Jaishankar told the media.

Jaishankar responded vehemently to the fictitious video of Canada regarding the celebration of Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary
After a fictitious video depicting Indira Gandhi and her assassins—members of her security—appeared in a parade float, Jaishankar responded vehemently. In addition, a sign at the parade read, “Revenge for Attack on Shri Darbar Sahib”—a reference to the Indian troops’ 1984 invasion of the Golden Temple.

Reports claim that on June 4, just days before the upcoming 39th anniversary of “Operation Blue Star,” which takes place on June 6, Khalistani supporters organized a parade.
