Big Jolt To BRS As Over A Dozen Leaders Join Congress Months Before Elections


In a big jolt to KCR several individuals, including former legislators, ministers, and officials from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by K Chandrashekar Rao, have switched their allegiance to the Congress in Telangana. This development occurred on Monday, preceding the upcoming state assembly election later this year.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi were present during the leaders’ transition to the Congress on Monday.

Among the leaders who joined the Congress are former Member of Parliament Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Panyam Venkateswarlu, Koram Kanakaiah, and Kota Ram Babu. Additionally, Rakesh Reddy, the son of BRS Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Narsa Reddy, also joined the Congress.

The decision to join the Congress comes shortly after the BRS chose not to attend a significant opposition gathering in Patna. The meeting, organized by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saw the presence of leaders from various prominent opposition parties in the country.

On Monday, more than twelve former lawmakers, ministers, and officials affiliated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by K Chandrashekar Rao, made the decision to join the Congress party in Telangana. This development occurs in anticipation of the state’s upcoming assembly election, which is scheduled to take place later this year.

During the event where these leaders switched their party affiliation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi were present.

Prominent figures who joined the Congress on that day include former Member of Parliament Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Panyam Venkateswarlu, Koram Kanakaiah, and Kota Ram Babu. Additionally, Rakesh Reddy, the son of BRS Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Narsa Reddy, also chose to join the Congress.
