ATS interrogates the Pakistani woman Seema Haider for the second day

The Uttar Pradesh police took Sachin Meena, an Indian citizen, and his Pakistani partner Seema Ghulam Haider into custody. They held the couple and their four young children for traveling to India without a visa through Nepal. Additionally, Seema’s brother and uncle both work for the Pakistani military. After eight hours of questioning by the Uttar Pradesh anti-terrorism squad (UP-ATS), Haider refused to divulge why she had entered India illegally. Authorities are looking into the possibility that Haider is an undercover agent.

On the second day, ATS questioned Pakistani woman Seema Haider and her Indian partner

Authorities in India are currently looking into the possibility that Haider is a spy. The police in Gautam Budh Nagar had said they hadn’t found any obvious signs of espionage. Later, the ATS received the investigation.

Cross-border “love story”

Concern over Seema Ghulam Haider’s uncle and brother serving in the Pakistani army increased tension over the cross-border “love story” between her and her Indian partner Sachin Meena.

On July 4, the Gautam Budh Nagar police detained Haider for entering India without a visa through Nepal with her four children, all under seven, while also detaining Meena and his father for providing shelter to the unauthorized immigrant. Presently, all three are free on bail.

The UP-ATS detained that couple in custody on Monday

The Uttar Pradesh anti-terrorism squad (UP-ATS) detained them in custody on Monday and interrogated them for almost eight hours before being allowed to return to Meena’s house in Rabupura, Greater Noida. Tuesday’s questioning went on, according to officials. The ATS also interrogated Haider’s two older children, who are eight and seven years old.

Haider failed to provide information regarding her reasons for entering India illegally

Sources claim that Haider failed to provide information regarding her reasons for entering India illegally, despite UP-ATS and senior police officers refusing to give any details out of concern for national security. Investigators from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) were present as well. According to sources, the IB is asking for an investigation from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the central armed police force that patrols the permeable Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Haider previously told the Gautam Budh Nagar police that she crossed into India from Nepal on May 13 in Bihar’s Sitamani.

Haider’s brother and uncle both served in the Pakistani military

“The pair underwent questioning for several hours on Tuesday. When asked about her relatives in Pakistan, Haider states that her brother and uncle both served in the Pakistani military. She refuted the allegations and stated that her brother was getting ready to join the army,” according to an ATS source who declined to give their name.

Authorities in India are currently looking into the possibility that Haider is a spy. The police in Gautam Budh Nagar had said they hadn’t found any obvious signs of espionage. Later, the ATS received the investigation.

The additional commissioner of police for Gautam Budh Nagar remarked

“The UP-ATS updated the local Greater Noida authorities that they will be questioning Haider, Meena, and Singh in connection with addresses regarding national security. We sent a letter to notify central agencies and the UP-ATS when the three went into custody by Gautam Budh Nagar police last month. As a result, they are conducting their investigations,” said Anand Kulkarni, additional commissioner of police for Gautam Budh Nagar.
