11 People Including 10 Jawans Killed In Naxal Attack In Dantewada


In the latest news coming in from Dantewada Chhatisgarh, Maoists used and IED blast killing 10 Jawans and 1 other person in the attack. The 10 personnel who lost their lives are from District Reserve Guards (DRG) that comes under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The 11th person killed in the attack is said to be driver of the vehicle which was blown in the blast.

This attack is after a year long silence of non violence in the region. The incident spot is 450 kilometres away from the state capital Raipur.

Bastar range inspector general of Police P Sundarraj stated that their teams got an intel about possible presence of Maoists in Darbha division hence they launched an operation to look out for them. This team was returning back from their after their operation when this attack took place.

The Maoists targeted the vehicle carrying the guards near Aranpur -Sameli.

The bodies were being evacuated and the search operation is still on IG said.

Chhatisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel expressed his grief over Twitter for the lost lives and their respective families. Many senior govt officials are on the incident site already and though not confirmed it is said that CM Bhupesh Baghel might plan a visit to the region.
