The claims in Randeep Hooda’s “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” are refuted by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandnephew

Please refrain from altering history

On the occasion of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s 140th birthday, Randeep Hooda released the first teaser for his upcoming film, “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” which will mark his directorial debut.

The actor who portrays the title role discussed the inspiration for the film and said, “Savarkar led a remarkable life, and as I discovered more regarding him during the course of analyzing for my movie, I realized that I greatly admire him. So, on his 140th birthday, I’m happy to present an early glimpse of our film.”

Randeep Hooda’s Tweet

He wrote in his Twitter post, “The most sought-after Indian by the British,” How revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and Khudiram Bose were inspired. #VeerSavarkar: Who was he? Watch how his true story plays out! The movie #SwantantryaVeerSavarkar starring @RandeepHooda will be released in theatres in 2023.

Don’t change the past, advised Chandra Kumar Bose

The historical community, as well as the Bose family, appear to be annoyed by the different assertions made in the teaser trailer. The late freedom fighter’s grandnephew, Chandra Kumar Bose, attacked the director on Twitter for “distorting” the past. “I apologize, but Subhas Chandra Bose had been the nation’s most wanted revolutionary and commander. He was the lone front-line commander who had been given the order to “shoot at sight” and who gave his life on August 18, 1945, to ensure our country’s freedom. Please avoid altering history if you respect #Savarkar,” Bose tweeted.

Netaji was “inspired” by “Swami Vivekananda & Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das”

Bose and other revolutionary leaders like Bhagat Singh and Khudiram Bose were allegedly “motivated” by Savarkar, according to Hooda’s film. In a recent interview, Bose strongly refuted the exaggerated claims made in the movie, claiming that his granduncle was motivated by both Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das, his political mentor, and Swami Vivekananda, his spiritual guide.

Netaji was a “secular leader” & opposed Savarkar’s “ideology”

Netaji was a “secular leader” who contrasted Savarkar’s beliefs, and the two men were “opposite” to one another. He also pointed out that Netaji had written that Savarkar and Muhammad Ali Jinnah could not be expected to contribute to the independence movement against the British.

Falsely portraying history on screen would “do the youth a great injustice”

Additionally, he said that Hooda’s claims in the video were “utterly wrong.” In addition, he asked Randeep to present the accurate and authentic history of the Indian independence struggle. He claimed that falsely portraying history on screen would “do the youth a great injustice.”

Bose claimed that Hooda was attempting to stir up controversy to boost the visibility of his film and declared that it was unlawful to “project incorrect history.” He added that while it was everyone’s right to project whatever they pleased, it was not their place to misrepresent the course of events.
