First Impression

The thriller drama Jaane Jaan is utterly captivating and full of excellent performances. Unfortunately, despite appealing results, Ghosh’s thriller, which served as Kareena Kapoor Khan’s OTT debut, fell short of expectations, and for that, Ghosh must accept responsibility.

Plot of the movie

The Kalimpong-based film Jaane Jaan tells the tale of Mrs. D’Souza (Kareena Kapoor Khan), her husband Ajit Mhatre (Saurabh Sachdeva), her daughter Tara, her strange next-door neighbor and local maths instructor Naren (Jaideep Ahlawat), an investigating officer named Karan Anand (Vijay Varma), and one wild night that alters everything for the worse.

Review of the movie

Jaane Jaan is a fantastic movie and one of the best thrillers to come out of India recently. Since the film is an authorized adaptation of the book “The Devotion of Suspect X,” it goes without stating that the plot is fantastic. It is completely grasping, captivating, and intriguing at an excellent pace. Sujoy Ghosh once again impresses with his ability to tell a gripping tale.

The best actor in the movie, and the role of Naren, appears by Jaideep Ahlawat. The film’s technical elements, including cinematography, production design, background music, and others, are all of the highest caliber. Shout out to the superbly choreographed fight scenes, especially the Ahlawat and Varma-led one, which is one of the highlights of this astounding movie.

If you’ve read the book or seen the Japanese movie adaptation, you should probably pass on this movie because it contains nothing new. There is nothing wrong with Jaane Jaan. If this story had been distinctive, it would have had a different impact than it does now.

Performances of the actors

# As Mrs. D’Souza, Kareena Kapoor Khan is fantastic and extremely strong. She performs with the proper dose of rage, fear, and vulnerability.

# Without a doubt, Jaideep Ahlawat is the best actor in Jaane Jaan. He makes a terrifying, creepy, and fascinating Naren, the maths teacher.

# Inspector Karan Anand has a noteworthy performance. This guy never fails to dazzle. He put much effort into the action, and it is evident onscreen.

# The husband of Mrs. D’Souza, Ajit Mhatre, played by Saurabh Sachdeva, is ominous. He gives two outstanding performances in a row, the first in Bambai Meri Jaan and the second in Jaane Jaan.

Final words

On numerous occasions, Jaane Jaan seems exciting. But the thrill fades just as you prepare for a twist. Although the primary characters and their narratives have many facets, none is complete. The story, not the performances, is what’s wrong.
